Do your goals and dreams for the new year include failure?
I didn’t think so.
Do you have a formal, personal learning plan that maps your progressive path to the new prosperous you?
Good for you! (or not)
So much for School!
It used to be you went to school to get a formal education that served your career for years.  Now the material covered in many degree programs changes so quickly that some of the information  learned in your first year in a program is obsolete by the time you graduate. How crazy is that?
Enter Informal Learning…
If you have a frimly fixed formal learning plan for the entire year you just may find yourself learning the wrong stuff by the end of the year.  Yes, things are changing that quickly and your ability to learn the important, meaningful stuff may be the difference for your future [1]. Flexible informal learning becomes the way to adjust to change.
The world of education is becoming an informal free-for-all enterprise.  I’d like to think the lessons of experience schooled entrepreneurs may hold out hope for our future.
The Entrepreneur’s Education?
How do you learn best?  How is our society served by educational systems? Where do they fit in the flow on the information age?  Is informal learning becoming your learning experience?
Congratulations and condolenses. It appears your best learning in the information age is becoming fast and informal.  Is it becoming as effective as the entrepreneur’s “School of Hard Knocks”.  Ok, that can be really inefficient.  But hey, it is filled with many meaningful lessons and memorable experiences (did someone say painful?)
Can entrepreneur’s learn the lessons of life more effectively?
The Education Entrepreneur
When individuals begin to apply their own personal learning style to their current learning project they cut through the chatter and clamour that clutter the direct path to their most meaningful lessons.  We were never taught how to direct our own learning so many times we are left learning what others are telling matters.
Entrepreneurs let the needs of the moment drive the direction of their learning experiences.
What if you and I could approach our learning problems with the smarts of proven effective teaching and learning strategies while responding to the changing world around us at the same time.
Elephant in the Room?
Is it possible to learn effectively the newest needed information informally?  Can we apply what we are learning in our lifes now in a way that is congruent with who we are and how we learn best?
Do you see the Elephant in the Room? There he sits. Slow moving schools systems teaching yesterday’s content using the quickly changing technologies of today.  Students with access to technologies are now are learning informally important and meaningless stuff.
So I ask again… Do you have a formal, personal learning plan that maps your progressive path to the new prosperous you?
Here is mine, firm yet flexible enough to teach you the effective informal learning skills you need for your current learning effort AND responsive to the changes we don’t yet know are coming this year.
