Can 30 minutes can make a difference? It did for me!
In just 30 minutes everything important about managing my time and my life came in as if a flash flood of fond memories. I am grateful Gavin Mountford was willing to take the time to “Teach” Jim. It was a fabulous reminder. Clearly, I had “fallen off the wagon” a bit. This show provide the prompting I needed to renew focus! Here is my reaction:
“As the minutes click away and I reflect on our conversation yesterday, I become more grateful. For me it was an essential experience for my personal development.
The most important key revealed yesterday was the idea of laser focused effort for protected blocks of time. This idea alone changed my activities… I feel rejuvenated. Thanks to you!”
How are you feeling? (here is some of what Gavin and I have felt along our journey)
My effectiveness is constantly diluted by distraction….
I felt like I was in the deep end of the swimming pool unable to swim and without any arm bands to save me.
I felt useless, frustrated and upset that for some reason, and with ALL my knowledge and expertise, I still couldn’t make it work!
I guess you could say, I was OVERWHELMED.
I felt out of control and overloaded with NO HOPE of getting out of that damn job I hated so much!
We all can become more effective in the use of our life’s limited time. Clearly there are key principles and practices to becoming more effective. This episode of The Teach Jim Show uncovers essential elements of effective time and project management. Some of what we covered:
See the goals and your desired results then work backwards
Clearly established blocks of focused energy
Build your business by managing lots of mini projects
Daily process your notes into timely tasks
Maintaining a master list of tasks
3 biggest things I need to move my projects forward
Removing distractions through focus
How to learn and master time management skills
Many more important principles and practices on learning to better manage your time and your life.
I hope you enjoy this episode as much as I did. It is really rewarding to have these kinds of moments in life. We each have so much to offer as we take time to share our experiences. Thanks again to Gavin Mountfort, the Networking Superstar for sharing his experience gained as he dedicated himself to mastering productivity.
I plodded on, bit by bit, step by step. Learning as much as I could about productivity, time management and HOW to get EVERYTHING that was important to me done, finished and complete in the LITTLE amount of time I had each day.
Please enjoy these powerful 30 minutes. It just may change the way you run your business and your online life.
Enjoy the show!

Some of the best non-selling, selling I’ve witnessed. This was no 30 second elevator speech. More like a “two-minute elevator spiel” (Tom Peters, 1999). Mike Klingler shared his unique sales proposition (USP) and demonstrated his entire way of doing business in 1 minute and 17 seconds teaching in an elevator. He was not selling us on Marketing Merge, Mike Klingler or Marketing Funnel Mastery. But we were sold. Teaching Sells!
The Situation (Preparation)
Rich and Natasha were perplexed. They were at the Marketing Funnel Mastery Event in Portland Oregon. They had just launched a new product two weeks earlier (Lead Whisperer). They had learned so many things by the experience they were ready for more clarity. They was ready to learn.
During lunch that June day, the discussion centered on the need for essential input from Mike Klingler, the Marketing Funnel Mastery master. He was sharing this expertise with event participants. He continually was adding value to the individuals in attendance but the exact information Rich and Natasha needed was just outside the instruction offered.
The Solution (Producing Results)
“When the student is ready the teacher appears.” Buddhist proverb. But in an Elevator? REALLY?
Rich and Natasha hoped to get their problem resolved that afternoon. They needed Mike’s direct input. The students were ready. Then it happened. There in the elevator, the teacher appeared. Literally!
Watch the ultimate elevator speech become an exquisite “Elevator Teach”! Then see the lessons learned and applied at our respective sites (Lead Whisperer.com and YourLeadSystemsPro.com).
Lessons learned (Profit):
1. When the student is ready, the teacher will appear (in the elevator) – Buddhist proverb.
2. Lead with value – Mike Klingler
3. Teaching sell – Ann Sieg
4. The “Elevator Teach” is effective – Teach Jim (Observation)
I had a wonderful visit with The Cartoon Coach – Jeremiah Carstarphen. His story is one of challenges overcome. The growth through his challenges has him coaching with great empathy now. Here are a few of his setbacks.
He jumped out full time in his network marketing company only to fall behind on my mortgage.
Oh that’s bad.
His credit rating fell into the 400′s. He spent the next year working to improve his credit score from 400 to 800. So he qualified to invest 50,000 in a real estate investment that failed.
Oh that is really bad.
It happened Jeremiah lost my job at the same time the renters of his property left it vacant.
Oh my, that is really sad.
He was left paying my mortgage with my credit card at the end of each month in an effort to salvage his credit rating.
Oh my, that is sad.
He then resolved to improve his situation and be out of the debt. Bankruptcy hit him next.
Oh my, that is terrible.
He resolved to live below his means and save my money by getting roommates. He had to move out multiple times as people broke their leases. His last room mate was crazy so he moved to a warehouse he had access to.
No Way. That is devastating.
While living in the ware house he had to leave early before the commercial business park got going. He would spend the day in the library learning Internet Marketing. Only to return to the warehouse when the library closed.
Oh my, No way that is terribly devastating.
Actually he hit bottom when the car in front of him braked and he swerve only to have his car crushed by a 18 wheeler. After getting stitches at the hospital he had to take the bus home. He was alone in the warehouse he broke down crying in the warehouse.
How could it be OK? Well it is going to be OK now.
He helped my girl friend start Internet marketing over a weekend and she started making money. She shared the idea with some friends. They asked Jeremiah to coach them.
Wow, that is neat!
Soon, many people were calling on The Cartoon Coach’s 24/7 coaching. They signed up through his affiliate links and he started making money with his affiliate programs.
Are you kidding me? Fabulous!
Today he has gone from 4 or 5 students to over 100.
Here is what Jeremiah says
“A few short months ago…not even a year I was working 50-60 hours a week only to make a measly $500 ($400 something after taxes.)
Now I work from home and I have multiple streams of income through affiliate sales, my mlm business, and my own product sales.
Quite often I make more in one 5 minute transaction online than I used to make all week working at that job.
And I do this all from home…from my computer.”
From all these challenges Jeremiah has gleaned the following 4 Principles. He builds his coaching program around these:
1. Remove all selfish intentions
2. Build a community of friends and business partners.
3. Always over deliver in value.
4. Always remain humble and never stop learning
Here is where you can reach The Cartoon Coach – Jeremiah Carstarphen tell him Teach Jim sent you over. Thanks.

Learning by Mind Mapping is fun. Mastering Internet Marketing mind map is the result of following Mike Dillard’s suggestion to map out Internet Marketing (mentioned in his What Works Now Short Cut System introduction video). Mind mapping is also a way for you and I to deal with information overload.
Learners and experts, like you and I use mind maps to communicate concepts in a realm of knowledge. In this example, I try to capture the entire process of Internet marketing. I consider things helpful to you from a preparation, planning and performance plan of action point of view.
This map actually “starts” in the lower left and works it’s way around (clockwise) to the bottom right. Prioritize, Project, Prepare, Plan, Perform and Perfect are the steps covered. This is a high level map so please do not look for exact tactics or techniques in this map. (Those just may come later.)
Mind mapping helps in project management by visually displaying the scope of a project. When we tackle a project we can see the progress made by marking up the a mind map. A little more fun when it is an attractive image.
Mind mapping can give you a fabulous way to make meaning of the mess of information you are facing at any given time. This is a good way to coping with information overload.
Self-Directed Learners, like us, can master masses of information by getting together a mental map by creating a mind map. We may want to try collaborating together in one.
I’d love to have you collaborate with me on a map! Leave a comment. Let me know.
They are fun and bring a smile. Amazing to me is the power words carry. Sure, I’ve seen the movie a few times, but here we are years later and I still smile when I think of those words. These rhyming words were brought to my mind while reading a article about Isaac Watts a hymn-writer (Joy to the World among the most well know of his 750 hymns).
Amazing how the word come to us and have such power as to leave us laughing or in tears for years. The power of words are astounding. Words are powerful and fun.
Isaac Watts had a great talent for delivering verse. I like this story of a cool “verse” spoken in youth under digress.
This is how the story goes as quoted from the source:
“Even as a small boy, Watts had a great interest in versifying. Once, during family prayers, he began to laugh. His father asked him why. He replied that he had heard a sound and opened his eyes to see a mouse climbing a rope in a corner, and had immediately thought,
A little mouse for want of stairs
ran up a rope to say its prayers.
His father thought this irreverent, and proceeded to administer corporal punishment, in the midst of which Isaac called out,
Father, father, mercy take,
and I will no more verses make.”
May we all our minds employ in assembling words that bring great joy!
